BAD RELIGION
THE PROCESS OF BELIEF
EPITAPH
Bad Religion's return to Epitaph is also a throwback to the kind of music that made them one of the foremost punk rock units of the 80s and early 90s. That is, less of the formulaic polish that marked their Atlantic years - lyrics withstanding. Process is as wordy and politically charged as ever, probably because of the return of founding guitarist/songwriter (and Epitaph head honcho) Brett Gurewitz, whose trademark propensity for complex and compound lyrical statements have left punkers scratching their mohawks for more than two decades. "It's a matter of prescience/ludicrous nonsense and incipient senescence/the arid torpor of inaction will be our demise." Huh? Religion is also joined by ex-Minor Threat guy Brian Baker and ex-Circle Jerk Greg Hetson, all of whom would be first-ballot Punk Rock Hall of Fame inductees.-AW
