Patiently
Triple Rock Records
Rating: 4.5 Flaming Goat Heads
It takes a special mix of musicians - each armed to the teeth with endless creativity and a masochistic work ethic - to mesh complex arrangements with quality songwriting as well as Domestic Problems has done on the band's third studio disc, Patiently. Singer Andy Holtgreive's vocal tone and phrasing may too closely recant John Popper in some spots (the pre-chorus of "Patiently" and the verse of "In Good Time") and the Blues Traveler and Dave Matthews Band comparisons could eventually render plague, but Patiently effectively pushes DP's own boundary regarding how far a collection of songs can exceed its finite, linear constraints. With this album, the persona of the band's live show - a magical mergence of emotive music, positive energy, and brotherly unition - has now found its way into a transportable media, and the strength of the songs "Patiently" and "It's Alright," will take this band further than most fans dare imagine.-Cliff Frantz
