Never underestimate the power of hallucinogenics to both help produce and absorb certain styles of music. Alien Invasion capitalizes on the effect of acid; delay effects are heavily mixed, providing unending fodder to the thalamus’ temporary malfunctions concerning time displacement. Equally served is the brain’s ability to specifically concentrate on a buried sonic layer you would not otherwise even notice, of which this has many. Of course, this album suffers the eternal drawback surrounding trip music: without drugs, the tenacious droning of funkified keyboard poundings and borderline-ridiculous vocal cacophonies are thoroughly unlistenable.
