RESIST
KENETIC
Decoder is a pretty well-respected drum and bass producer, but somewhere along the line he must have thought he could make some money by getting a hot chick to sing over some trancified drum and bass. He's probably wrong; Resist isn't quite R&B enough to make the crossover. "I Want It All" is a standout Portishead wannabe track that actually manages some cool acoustic bass and guitar loops. "Hungry," "Face In A Crowd" and "Gone," however, all sound like Decoder really wants to produce Beth Orton. Finally, ensuring you'll never again listen, the record ends with a trancetastic remix edit of the first song, "Hide U." If you want good commercialized drum and bass, get Everything But the Girl; at least Kevin Yost does their remixes.-BK
