Somewhere between The Clash and The Go-Go’s stands Lansing’s Millenary, a three-piece outfit led by singer/guitarist Sarah Stollak’s grimy bar chord progressions and sometimes singy, sometimes screamy vocal outbursts. Besides a strange and wholly unnatural obsession with the color orange, High Energy presents 11 relatively short tunes that never seem to catch a full head of steam and lack a firm, driving meter and general cohesion. Stollak does have a knack for giving certain words an infectious flare, such as the title of the opening track, "Go!" Track three, "Girl, You Need A Personality" and the Tracy Bonham-like "Closer to Me" are highlights. Check it out at www.millenary.net.
