If you would have told Run DMC 10 years ago that in 10 years they would be doing a cover of Steve Miller's "Take the Money and Run" with Everlast, they probably would have died laughing. How the mighty have fallen... We're talking about Run DMC, legends, trailblazers, sell-outs? Sure, they probably don't make as much cash as they did during the '80s and early '90s, but isn't simply proclaiming yourselves the "kings of rock" enough? Must they feel they have to prove it? There is a sad, sad list of guest vocalists on the new record, which includes Fred Durst, Kid Rock, Third Eye Blind, Sugar Ray, and a host of other awful white guy rap/rockers. If ever there was an attempt to truly sell out at a massive scale, this is it, and it makes me sad. Why? I saw Run DMC a few years ago in Kalamazoo - nothing more than two guys with microphones, a DJ, and a few crates full of old-school hits. That was what Run DMC is all about, hell they even served free barbecue for everyone that night. But this? Fred Durst? Fred Durst doesn't deserve to carry Run DMC's smelly Adidas shoes; shame on him for being him and shame on them for resorting to this. It's interesting, though, how most of the rhymes on this record seem nostalgic; they brag a lot about how cool they used to be, and how big their shows used to be. Someone should let them know that they aren't dead yet.-Andrew Watson
