THE TEA PARTY
THE INTERZONE MANTRAS
EMI
Looks are often intentionally deceiving; some bands have been known to mislead listeners at times with bizarre album covers or obscure packaging; anything to distract from the music. The Tea Party plays themselves off as a Middle Eastern-influenced rock band with song titles like "Mantra"and "Catharitik," they even go so far as to picture a multi-armed meditative Buddhist figure on the cover of their new record, The Interzone Mantras. Unfortunately, this is little more than your run-of-the-mill rock band. The only item worth mentioning is the singer who, out of place as it may seem, does a fairly strong David Bowie impersonation. Jumbled, misleading, and ultimately average, The Tea Party would be wise to abandon the shtick and work on writing better songs.-AW
