You might be freezing your ass off in the frigid Michigan temps, but Hollywood Makeout’s new release may just be the disc to warm your ear holes up this winter. Featuring front woman Erin Lenau (former Tokyo Morose), this bubbly surf rock album drips with reverb and dancing bass lines – enough to transform you to the hot sands of a 1960s beach party. The 10-track body of work establishes its care-free energy right from the get-go with “So Much Hate I Need A Vacay.” From there, Hollywood Makeout hits listeners with some highlights like the punky “Bones on Bones,” “Surf Stretch” and the mostly instrumental closer “Nice Tweens.” Lenau’s vocals travel behind a layer of distortion that couldn’t complement the music any better. – Jayson Bussa
