Brad Radtke Cheap Beer, Lost Causes
Acoustic singer/songwriter Brad Radtke writes songs which roll along like punk music but are centered around his ceaselessly strumming acoustic guitar – a format which usually falls flat in any respect, but this disc somehow cuts the mustard. Maybe it’s because your brain can fill in the drums and bass because you know what they’d be playing, which is a compliment to Radtke’s metronomic right hand. Radtke’s voice is gentle but pushy, and his lyrics are simple and direct. There are some notable intonation issues with the singing, but not bad for the naked voice of a songwriter.
