Guided by Voices Let's Go Eat The Factory
The announcement earlier last year that GBV – and not just GBV, but the best version of GBV, the early-to-mid-90s version – was planning a return to action was met with a justifiable amount of enthusiasm. Clearly, this was news worth celebrating. Let’s Go Eat The Factory is not as good of a record as Bee Thousand or Alien Lanes (duh) but it is an invigorating reminder of how spectacularly rawkish this band is. Songs like “The Unsinkable Fats Domino” and “Waves” hit the ground running while the surprisingly gorgeous “Old Bones,” composed by guitarist Tobin Sprout, hints that more interesting and ambitious endeavors may be afoot. Welcome back, you old geezers.
