Foxy Shazam The Church Of Rock And Roll

Foxy Shazam frontman Eric Sean Nally is a true believer. From the opening of his band’s latest album he shepherds fans through Foxy’s modern take on glam-rock, having faith they’ll make rock fun again. Currently on tour with like-minded (and equally Queen-inspired) British rock revivalists The Darkness, (whose frontman Justin Hawkins produced Church), Foxy has moved the focus from the piano-rock of its previous self-titled disc, to guitar. With Hawkins’ influence evident, even the album’s biggest ballad, “(It’s) Too Late Baby,” gets overshadowed, slightly, by its larger than life guitar solo, and overall, only Nally’s arena-ready voice rises above the mix. Not as immediately catchy as its predecessor, Church will play well to the choir, but isn’t as likely to win over new converts.
