Stikyfüt Labels Are For Soup Cans EP
Kzoo four-piece Stikyfüt doesn’t adhere to easy genre classification. The band’s debut six-song EP has plenty of classic rock touchstones – with Zeppelin and Heart coming out almost immediately in guitarist/vocalist Phil Wrenbeck’s high-volume licks and vocalist Emily Detwiler’s sweetly soaring cries, respectively. So it’s fair to compare them to other retro-leaning acts like Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, who balance blues with funk, but it’s impossible to simplify their sound to just that. Percussionist Jared Field and bassist Jordan Landau keep the grooves grounded, especially considering the band’s only been on the scene two years, while the acoustic closing track, “Willows,” with its weeping violin accompaniment, has maturity beyond their years.
